Wade in the Water is honored to partner with Stand Up Mobile and the Southern Poverty Law Center to help spread the word about this community event and call to action for all of our community members who care about democracy and fulfiling Jesus' command to love our neighbors.

Last year, when Spiro Cheriogotis joined us for a mayoral candidates forum, he promised that if he won the election, he would come back for a visit, and at this month’s meeting, he’s honoring that promise—he’ll be our special guest for a Wade in the Water Town Hall. The Wade in the Water Town Hall is an opportunity for you to hear from him about current and future projects in Mobile, as well as his broader vision for our city, and for him to respond to your concerns for our communities.
Please join us for this evening of good fellowship, information, and inspiration!

Please mark your calendar for Wade in the Water’s
Annual Potluck Supper,

We survived another year! Please bring a favorite dish and help us celebrate the start of our 5th year of sharing fellowship, information, and inspiration. Following the meal, our talented friend from Truelight Missionary Baptist Church, Michael Sangboi Slater, will lead us in song, and our good friends from
Stand Up Mobile will guide a discussion about their 2026 mission, “Revive the Village.”
Hope you can be with us!

On Monday, February 2nd (the Feast of the Presentation/“Candlemas”) at 6:00 p.m., Bishop Russell Kendrick is inviting the people of our diocese to a diocesan-wide prayer vigil. To that end, All Saints will host an in-person vigil in the church at that time.
If you can’t attend the in-person vigil at the church, you can join the online vigil with the diocese by going to the diocesan website and looking at the header that says “Join us for an online prayer vigil Monday, February 2, 6 p.m. CT.” The first link is Russell+’s video invitation to prayer; the second link is for Zoom, to connect to the vigil itself [note: if you haven’t done a Zoom in a while it is recommended that you open the Zoom app on your device and see if it runs any updates; that way you won’t miss the vigil]. The third link is a PDF file that you can view online, download, or print, of the order of service for the vigil.

Five years ago, in the aftermath of the January 6th insurrection in Washington, two friends decided to stop watching from the sidelines. That moment sparked the beginning of Stand Up Mobile, a nonpartisan, Black-led grassroots organization grounded in civic education, voter engagement, and community power. As a celebration of these five years, our friends at Stand Up Mobile are hosting a “Revive the Village” event, featuring inspiring voices, local performers, and a keynote address by nationally recognized civil rights leader and racial justice advocate Maya Wiley. It will be held on Friday, January 9, from 5:30 to 7 PM, at the historic Central High Auditorium at the Pathway School. Please click on the link below for more details, to learn more about Maya Wiley, and to reserve a spot for yourself and your friends.
